Haven 7 · IV. Core

Most of the upside, a fraction of the downside.

Core is the middle of the plan—money with a horizon long enough to grow, but close enough that a deep drawdown would change decisions. It is designed to participate substantially while keeping the left tail contained.

The shape of Haven Core

Every Haven model changes the relationship between what the market does and what you experience. Reading left to right: how the model is designed to behave when markets fall, and what it gives up when they rise.

How this model is defined

Time horizon

3 to 7 years.

Objective

Capture most of the market's upside while carrying only a fraction of its downside.

How it is built

An adaptive defined-downside position sized within a set range, paired with a capped participation in index gains. When no structure meets the standard, the model waits in short-term rates rather than accepting a poor one.

What you accept

An upside cap, and periods held in short-term rates when the market does not offer terms worth taking.

Common questions

What does "adaptive" mean here?

The downside level is not fixed in advance. Each cycle is evaluated against a required standard, and the model only invests when that standard is met.

What happens when nothing qualifies?

The capital waits in short-term rates. Declining to enter is a deliberate part of the process, not a failure of it.
