Haven 7 · II. Shield

Single-digit worst case. Sleep is the product.

Shield is for money with a real deadline inside a few years. It accepts a modest share of market upside in exchange for a downside that stays inside a boundary you can plan around.

The shape of Haven Shield

Every Haven model changes the relationship between what the market does and what you experience. Reading left to right: how the model is designed to behave when markets fall, and what it gives up when they rise.

How this model is defined

Time horizon

1 to 3 years.

Objective

Keep the worst realistic year in single digits. As the design note puts it: sleep is the product.

How it is built

A deep defined-downside position on a broad index paired with a capped participation in gains, held to a single stated maturity.

What you accept

Meaningfully less upside than the index in a strong year. That is the price of the boundary, and it is the point.

Common questions

What does the boundary actually mean?

It is a designed outcome at a stated maturity, not a guarantee and not continuous protection. Value between now and maturity will move.

When would Shield be the wrong choice?

When the money has no near-term claim on it. Over long horizons the capped upside costs more than the boundary is worth.
